Richard (Dick) HILL

Dick Hill is currently a resident of Collingwood, Ontario and is Executive Director of Nottawa Services involved in development research, municipal administration and strategy negotiations.

He is a graduate from the Harvard School of Business Administration with a Masters in Business Administration as well as a Bachelor of Science in Honours Chemistry and Physics from the University of Western Ontario.

Mr. Hill moved to Inuvik in 1963 as director of the Inuvik Research Laboratory.  He supported the establishment of Inuvik’s municipal government and served as the town’s first Mayor.  He was active in the Territorial Experimental Ski Training program, the University of Canada North, the Western Arctic Visitors Association and the Inuvik Chamber of Commerce.

On retiring in 1996 Mr. Hill donated his substantial collection of northern books to the Inuvik Centennial Library.  For Inuvik’s 50th Anniversary celebrations he published two books -  Inuvik: A History, 1958-2008 and Inuvik In Pictures: 1958-2008.
